Meet the Leadership Team at HomeXpress Mortgage Corp

Kyle Walker

As President and CEO of HomeXpress Mortgage, Kyle Walker is responsible for implementing the Company’s mission through effective leadership, vision and management. His previous roles include six years as Manager for Home America, where he developed a business strategy of creating investment funds which purchased REO’s nationally. Previously, Mr. Walker served as the President and Chief Executive Officer for Fremont Investment & Loan, a $14B California chartered industrial bank that engaged in the origination and sale of wholesale sub-prime residential mortgages, commercial real estate lending and retail banking.In this position, he oversaw 3,300 employees and directed a national residential real estate lending platform with five regional locations, resulting in over $30B in annual production and a $28B servicing portfolio. During his fourteen-year tenure at Fremont, Mr. Walker also held the titles of Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Residential Real Estate Lending. He started his career with Associates Corp and over a ten year period held numerous management level positions. Mr. Walker earned a Business Administration degree from Washington State University at Pullman.

Bob Clafford

Bob Clafford currently serves as Executive Vice President of Operations for HomeXpress Mortgage Corp, where he is responsible for underwriting and all operational units, risk management and the maintenance of profitable long term relationships. Before joining HomeXpress, Mr. Clafford spearheaded production teams in Southern California for Mountain West Financial and PMAC. He also served as Senior Vice President for the Residential Real Estate Division of Fremont Investment & Loan, overseeing nationwide production teams of 1500 in Sales & Operations and Marketing while generating in excess of $3 billion of loan volume per month. Prior to this, Mr. Clafford was Regional Vice President with Associates Financial Services, where he directed staff members at 12 US locations, driving record profits. Earlier in his career, Mr. Clafford also ranked among the nation’s top Branch Managers at BNY Mellon. Bob majored in Business at The College of DuPage and has completed elite training programs in senior level financial services management.

Mike Koch

Drawing on his executive management experience with both Fortune 500 companies and smaller private institutions, Mike Koch serves as Executive Vice President of Capital Markets for HomeXpress Mortgage Corp. In his current role, Mr. Koch is responsible for analyzing and interpreting company data in order to implement change and drive performance. He conducts financial modeling, forecasting, asset-liability, and liquidity management. In addition, he is responsible for maintaining and establishing new relationships with banks, broker/dealers, and lending partners. In his previous positions as Chief Financial Officer for Evangelical Christian Credit Union (ECCU) and as Senior Vice President of Capital Markets for Fremont Investment & Loan, Mr.Koch was responsible for monitoring financial performance and oversight of various departments. He served on the Supervisory Committee and Board of Directors of Eagle Community Credit Union for over a decade and as Chairman of the Board for three years. Mike holds a graduate degree in Economics from The University of Southern California.

David Grider

David Grider is our Senior Vice President of Wholesale Lending. His primary responsiblities are business development, sales staff training, recruitment, credit quality, and leading the company's branding efforts to gain exposure in the marketplace. In addition, he is responsible for sustaining quality service levels by managing our Sales Managers and Account Executives teams. Mr. Grider brings 33 years of experience and is the most tenured sales team member with HomeXpress. Prior to HomeXpress, he has served in many roles in the mortgage industry including Regional Vice President, Internal Auditor, Compliance Trainer and Senior Account Executive. David holds a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Saint Martins University in Lacey, WA.

Scott Reed

Scott Reed currently serves as Senior Vice President Operations Support with responsibility over Agency and Non-QM Credit, Strategy / PMO, Compliance, Investor Delivery, and Training. Scott has a 30 + year track record of building and growing mortgage banking platforms with hands-on experience in Operations, Sales, and Servicing. Scott has held positions with Citibank, Fremont Investment and Loan, Morgan Stanley, Carrington Mortgage Services, and Kind Lending, LLC. He has extensive experience in conventional, government, jumbo, and Non-QM originations and production. Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Arizona State University.

Tom Ashbrook

Tom Ashbrook currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer where he oversees the information technology direction of the company. Tom has held various CIO roles in FinTech as well as global technology responsibilities. Tom has 30 years of technology experience with the last 15 in the CIO role. Tom has been involved in many transformational initiatives using technology to deliver business results in a variety of industries. Tom was an early adopter of cloud technology, has a deep background in data and analytics as well as machine learning, and experience in building global platforms and automation. Tom has BS in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach as well as an MBA from Ashford University.
